You may have seen today’s New York Times article about the 2020 racial justice protest in Lynden and the journey since—including the work of Racial Unity Now.
In the article, I said, “Race is always a factor in American life—everywhere.” What I mean is that racism is embedded in our history, our systems, and too often, our daily lives. Even when unspoken, it shapes power, opportunity, and perception. For many, that impact goes unseen—until it becomes personal. That’s something we must face, especially our White Christian community.
This isn’t about shame or denial. It’s about making things right. Racial Unity Now is not here to divide, but to help our community walk toward truth and reconciliation. For many of us, it is a complex and painful journey toward racial healing. We’re here to build empathy, deepen understanding, and equip people to confront racism and engage across lines of race and culture with humility and resolve.
We have upcoming opportunities to engage in this critical work that we’re excited to share about in the coming days.
