In a concerted effort to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for new migrants arriving in our community, we recently hosted a specialized gathering exclusively for organizational and civic leaders. This periodic, invitation-only event is designed to transcend ideological differences and competing national narratives, allowing us to concentrate on local issues and shared goals.
The meeting aimed to unite community leaders to support new migrants by sharing information and building relationships. Presentations covered border policies by U.S. Customs & Border Patrol, educational support from Lynden School District, and insights from local Hispanic clergy. This gathering improved our ability to welcome and assist new arrivals.
While this meeting was not open to the general public, it underscores our commitment to working collaboratively behind the scenes to ensure that all community members, especially new migrants, receive the support and welcome they deserve. We look forward to continuing these efforts and invite other leaders to join us in this important mission.
